FairDigger (fairdigger.co.uk) is run by Alan Conlon in Ireland. This page explains what information we collect, why, who handles it for us, and how long we keep it. Questions or requests: fairdigger.hq@gmail.com.
Browsing the site
You don't need an account to use FairDigger. FairDigger doesn't use analytics, advertising trackers or its own cookies. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
- Search and maps. When you search by postcode or place name, your browser sends the search to postcodes.io to find its location. Maps load from OpenStreetMap, and the map code loads from unpkg.com. These services see your IP address when your browser contacts them.
- Saved pages on your device. If you add FairDigger to your home screen, or your browser supports it, pages you've opened are saved on your own device so they still open with a weak signal. They stay on your device and aren't sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
The Friday fair email
If you sign up, we collect your email address, and your postcode if you choose to give it, so we can send you the weekly fair email. Sign-ups and sending are handled by Buttondown. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your address until you unsubscribe.
Submitting a fair
The submit form asks for the fair's details (name, type, date, times, venue, town, postcode or Eircode, entry price, how often it repeats and its website) and the organiser's email address, plus whether you're interested in featuring the fair and whether you'd like the Friday email. We use this to check and list the fair, and to contact you about it. The form is sent by email to fairdigger.hq@gmail.com through Cloudflare. The fair details are published on the site; your email address is not. If you tick the newsletter box, your email address is also sent to Buttondown to sign you up. We keep submission emails while the fair is listed and for a reasonable time afterwards in case of questions, and will delete them sooner if you ask.
Payments
Featured listings and sponsorships are paid through Stripe. Stripe processes the payment, and we never see your full card details. We receive your name, email address, billing address where asked, and your answers to the checkout questions (such as which fair it's for, or your business name and website), so we can set up what you paid for. We keep payment records for as long as we're required to for accounts and tax.
Emailing us
If you email fairdigger.hq@gmail.com, your message and email address are stored in Google's Gmail. We use them only to reply and to deal with your request.
